Farmhand - Currently Hiring

Job Type: Part Time
Pay: $20 per hour, 10 - 20 hours per week

Job Description:
This role centers on care of the animals on the farm while growing into broader farmhand work across our fields, fencing, and firewood operations. In the coming year it will also expand to include tractor work supporting our hay business.

Animal Care
● Basic feeding and water for all animals - cattle, goats, pigs, mini pig, dogs, and additional animals in the future
● Managing and monitoring the goats, pigs, and cattle - daily checks, rotation, feeding, and general herd care
● Routine grooming for dogs - puppy baths, brushing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning
● Training exercises for dogs - the majority of this portion of the role will involve working with the Great Pyrenees. You will be trained in the established program and routine management, and are expected to follow the training guidelines given when handling the dogs and puppies.
● Change bedding and routine cleaning of dog beds, boxes, and the nursery room for puppies

Land, Fields & Facilities
● Facility cleaning - kennels, outdoor facilities, nursery area, barn, and other outdoor areas as required
● Preparing the fields for next year's hay - clearing, prepping, and readying the ground ahead of the growing season
● Fencing projects across 16 acres - building, repairing, and maintaining fence lines and enclosures
● Debris clearing this fall and spring - branch and brush cleanup, and general seasonal yard work

Firewood
● Processing and managing firewood - cutting, splitting, stacking, and organizing the wood supply

Tractor & Hay (2027)
● Helping run the tractor in support of our hay business, including field operations during the hay season. Training will be provided; comfort with or interest in operating equipment is a plus.

Skills and Requirements
● Dependability and a strong work ethic
● Ability to handle physical tasks, including standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and lifting
● Ability to repeatedly and comfortably lift 50 lbs
● Flexibility to work in different weather conditions across all seasons
● Comfort working around livestock, or a willingness to learn
● Interest in farming, local food, animal care, and agriculture
