Animal Care Assistant - Currently Hiring

Job Type: Part Time

Pay: $20 per hour, 10 - 20 hours per week

Job Description:

This job is primarily focused on care of the animals on the farm

● Basic feeding and water for all animals - Cattle, dogs, pigs, mini pig, additional animals in the future

● Routine grooming for dogs - puppy baths, brushing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning

● Training exercises for dogs - the majority of this role will involve working with the Great Pyrenees. You will be trained in the established program and routine management. The animal care assistant is expected to follow the training guidelines given when handling with the dogs and puppies.

● Facility cleaning - kennels, outdoor facilities, nursery area, barn and other outdoor areas as required. Light yard work included as well as possible fence repair work and branch clean up.

● Change bedding and routine cleaning of dog beds, boxes and nursery room for puppies.

Skills and Requirements

● Dependability and a strong work ethic.

● Ability to handle physical tasks, including standing, bending, kneeling, squatting and lifting.

● Ability to repeatedly and comfortably lift 50 lbs.

● Flexibility to work in different weather conditions.

● Interest in farming, local food, animal care and agriculture.

● The right candidates will be onboarded on house training procedures, focusing on breed-specific standards suitable for the current dogs. These procedures are subject to change based on temperament, as well as the addition or removal of dogs at any given time.

● Free surplus farm produce - currently available: pork products, lard, and lots of love from Great Pyrenees. More produce may be available during the summer months.
